Gideon Matzkin, MD
Medical Director and Counseling Psychiatrist
Dr. Gideon Matzkin is a board-certified psychodynamic psychiatrist who has helped hundreds of patients and their families struggling with a range of disorder including self harm, chronic suicidality, addiction, mood, anxiety, psychotic and attentional disorders. He believes in harnessing the power of family and interdisciplinary collaboration in order to help his patients reach their potentials.
Dr. Matzkin began his career by completing his medical degree (MD) at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology followed by psychiatry residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. As a psychiatric resident he sought to deepen his understanding of the early psychological development and attachment with studies in psychoanalysis at the the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. He served as administrative chief resident of medical education and has been recognized by the Association of Family Psychiatrists for Excellence in Family-Oriented Care.
While practicing psychiatry as a resident and in private practice, he joined forces with DBT experts Iain Halstead and Ann Guzman to develop Recovery DBT with the goal of blending behavioral, analytic, and family therapy approaches to ensure that patients are fortified with the skills and support they need to excel as their unique, wonderful selves.
Dr. Matzkin resides in Atlanta and holds full medical licensure in the state of Georgia.
